Let’s Partner for Coverage of Your Event

At WHCA, event coverage is about more than showing up with a camera. It is about making sure community moments are captured, shared, and sustained over time.

Our Partner for Coverage model is how we work with organizations to make that happen.

What is “Partnering for Coverage“?

WHCA’s Partner for Coverage approach is a collaborative partnership to event production.

Rather than relying solely on WHCA’s limited availibility and staff to film every event, we work with you to:

  • Capture your event effectively
  • Build your comfort with production tools
  • Create a repeatable model for future coverage
  • Ensure content can be shared on WHCA channels and beyond

This approach allows us to extend coverage across more events while staying true to our mission of community access.

How It Works:

Depending on timing, resources, and your needs, PFC can take different forms:

  • 1. Staff-Supported Coverage

WHCA staff may attend and help lead or support production while working alongside your team.

  • 2. Guided Coverage

We provide training, planning support, and equipment access so your team can capture the event, with WHCA assisting in post-production.

  • 3. DIY Coverage (In a Pinch)

When time or availability is limited, you can still capture your event using simple tools, and WHCA can assist with finishing the production.

When time is short, this still works

If your event is coming up quickly and WHCA staff are unavailable, you can still capture it effectively using what you already have.

A simple approach:

  • Set up one phone in the back of the room to record video
  • Place a second phone or audio recorder closer to the speaker
  • Keep both recordings running for the duration of the event

Clear audio and a stable shot are more important than complexity.

Once captured, submit your footage to WHCA and we can assist with editing and distribution.

Why Does WHCA Use This Approach?

This model reflects WHCA’s mission and the general philosophy of community media / public access.

We aim to:

  • Expand access to media production
  • Support community storytelling
  • Create sustainable coverage beyond one-time events

Sometimes we film for you.

Often, we film with you.

Increasingly, we help you film for yourselves.

If you are planning an event, we encourage you to reach out early so we can determine the best approach together.
