Statewide Questions, Local Considerations
While all Massachusetts voters will consider the same nine statewide questions, several topics discussed in the program have particular relevance to local communities.
Among them:
- Question 4: Election Day Registration. The conversation explores the proposed changes to voter registration and some of the practical considerations for local election officials.
- Question 7: Starter-Home Zoning. Kevin and Justin discuss how existing water and sewer infrastructure, local zoning, and housing development could affect the proposal’s implications for communities such as Whitman and Hanson.
- Question 8: Recreational Marijuana. The discussion considers the potential effects of changes to recreational marijuana laws on existing businesses, employment, and municipal revenue.
The episode also covers the remaining statewide questions, including public records access, collective bargaining, election procedures, state revenue limits, conservation funding, and firearms legislation.
