A SPECIAL UPDATE ABOUT CORONAVIRUS, AKA: COVID-19
As we all deal with the major change in our day to day lives due to Coronavirus AKA COVID-19, WHCA has also had to modify our operations to provide continued operations and the programming our viewers are accustomed to, without adding to the spread of COVID-19.
WHCA studio/offices are closed to the public except by appointment, under extenuating circumstances (i.e. Town Officials, Police/Fire, Board of Heath, etc.) We await further guidance from officials as to when it will be safe to reduce the social distancing measures currently in effect. Among the many safety measures imposed by Massachusetts governor Charlie Baker, is a temporary modification to Open Meeting Law, aimed at aiding in the provision of social distancing for the many valuable volunteer members of various town boards and committees. Both Whitman and Hanson as well as Whitman Hanson Regional School District have accordingly moved many, if not all of their meetings to audio/video/web conferencing. WHCA has worked to create systems and practices to facilitate and capture/broadcast these meetings.
In additional to changes with our government access programming, we have also looked at ways to continue and bring public and educational programming to our viewers. With many/most people quarantined at home, much of these efforts depend on you and your participation. We encourage our viewers to submit updates on what’s happening, what they’re doing, and fresh ideas about how to keep us all sane while in isolation. We welcome people to submit such content through the new special COVID-19 section of our website at www.WHCA.tv/COVID-19
