Memorial Day in Whitman & Hanson

  • Hanson’s 2024 Memorial Day plans:

    The parade will start at 10 a.m. from at the Indian Head School. Marchers should muster at the parking lot by 9:30 a.m. From Indian Head, the parade will head to Town Hall to post a wreath by the Civil War monument with a gun salute, then off to a concluding ceremony at Fern Hill Cemetery.

    7:00am – Community Site Visits

    1. High Street Cemetery at 7am
      • Prayer, Wreath Laying, Gun Salute, Taps
    2. Next stop Knights of Columbus
      • Prayer, Wreath Laying
    3. Then off to The World War I Memorial Arch
      •  Prayer, Wreath Laying, Gun Salute, Taps
    4. Then off to Saint James Cemetery 
      •  Prayer, Wreath Laying, Gun Salute, Taps
    5. Then off to Mt. Zion Cemetery
      •  Prayer, Wreath Laying
    6. Then off to VFW Traffic Circle (Rt 58)

    7. Then off to Colebrook Cemetery Veterans Lot
      •  Prayer, Wreath Laying
    8. Then off to Gravesite of Lt. John R. Fox (Medal of Honor Recipient)
      •  Prayer, Wreath Laying, Gun Salute, Taps

    9:30am – Parade starts

      • via South Ave,
      • to Town Hall – for “Honor Roll”
    • ~9:40am  Parade pauses at Honor Roll at Whitman Town Hall
